1.Find Your Niche
Before starting a blog you should specify a Niche for your blog. Niche is like a topic but it holds several topics inside it like ‘smartwayofblogging’. The smartwayofblogging is a niche and it covers several blogging related topics.
Some of the other top niches are ShoutMeLoud, SmartPassiveIncome, WikyHow, QuickSupport, etc.
Most of the bloggers quit blogging because they don’t choose the right niche at the start time. So choosing the right niche is the very important and the first step to start a blog.
Your first step in starting a blog is deciding on a niche. Maybe you’ve already selected a niche. Maybe you haven’t. Your niche will essentially be your content angle. What will you write about? What information will you carry? Will it be about a specific business or company? or it will be about a certain area of skills or personal development, or anything else? Whatever it is, decide on it now.
Some people will declare that you shouldn’t start a blog in a niche that isn’t too popular. For example, if you want to write about something like cooking or yoga, understand that the pleading of the blog can only be as large as the global audience in your writing way. Some things simply don’t have a large audience but have a good market or I mean it matters to peoples.
Mass appeal to a big crowd is the goal of any blogger that starts a blog. Most of the time density of the market is difficult and starting with a low crowd won’t help you to grow. I have seen most of the bloggers quit because they choose the wrong niche. So give some focus when choosing your niche.
2.Choose Domain Name Smartly
The next step in starting a blog and eventually earning a healthy income is to choose a good domain name. Domain names are in high demand these days, and there are all sorts of new extensions available. However, I suggest you take dot com extension. Don’t choose extensions like country-specific such as.US or.CA or even .info or .cc.
You also want to make sure that the domain name is short if possible or choose a meaningful world like smartwayofblogging or shoutmeloud. You should also avoid hyphens in your domain name as these are usually indicators of spam. Search for a domain name with two words that do not use hyphens and try to opt for a dot-com domain. You also try to use a keyword in your niche within the domain name if you can. It’s not compulsory, take it as an SEO bonus.
3.Register Your Domain And Hosting
Your next step in setting up your awesome blog is to find a hosting provider. There are so many great hosting companies out there and the choice is entirely up to you. You can use Google to search for “best hosting providers” or “best WordPress hosting”.
You can find lots of articles filled with affiliate links. So be careful of the hosting account you may sign up to because it might not be the best. This is an important step to test your awareness because your hosting provider will basically be your partner in your blogging journey, so choose wisely.
One of the important things that you should look for is the uptime of the provider. Search around and see if there have been any major issues associated with that domain & hosting provider. For that, you can search for reviews and decide on the price that you can afford or willing to spend. You should also make sure that the hosting provider has a WordPress plugin if you’re not all too familiar with setting up software such as WordPress on a hosting account. Most hosting providers will provide you with a WordPress plugin and make it easy to install WordPress on your hosting account But it’s your job to go with the right provider and buy the right hosting account. As a beginner blogger, you don’t need a high-capacity account and a highly upgraded plan. But as you grow, you’ll need to ensure that you have the right amount of space and bandwidth to support your traffic and a good loading speed of a site.
